  • Overview

Unlike other politicians, Ethan Carrick is a nice guy-and a hot, casino-owning vampire. And with elections coming up, he'd like to find his First Lady-if his opponent's hit men don't find him first. (Barnes and Nobles)

I really enjoyed this book!! I loved the characters and the way they developed. I also found that her odd mixing of couples was the prefect combination to put this series on the right track.

After living for 700 years Ethan Carrick finds his match with Alexis a tiny Las Vegas prosecutor with one heck of a karate kick. Ethan is running for reelection as the vampire president he is looking for a First Lady to show he has changed his playboy ways. So when he meets a dentist named Brittany he thought he found just what he need. That is until her sister Alexis shows up ready for a fight.

She agrees to stay with Ethan in her sisters place. Even though Brittany is there willingly. Ethan agrees to the swap even though Brittany would be better for his image because he hasn't ever been so attacked to a women before. Through the course of her promised week their relationship starts to change. They start to have a real relationship not one that is just for show. In the mean time Ethan's opponent hires a hit man to kill Ethan.

This is a great step out of the normal for vampire books by making it life for them very normal indeed. I wouldn't suggest this book for anyone under 18 due to the amount of sex and violence.

Review of The Demon Hunter By Lori Brighton

  • Publication date: 1/2/2012
  • Sold by: Barnes & Noble
  • Format: eBook

  • Series: The Hunter Series , #2
  • File size: 227 KB

"Life’s sucks, and then you die… again and again.

Ellie has always been different, from playing with fairies as a child to fighting demons as an adult. She grew up wondering why no one else seemed to notice the oddities of the world that she came into contact with on a daily basis. When she is the only witness of a demon attack and the police suspect her, Ellie skips the country heading to England where she plans to keep a low profile. Everything is going fine, until Devon appears, stumbling around her garden like a drunken fool, and completely naked no less.

Six months ago Devon sacrificed himself to bind the soul of a demon and save the world from certain destruction. Thanks to a spell gone awry, Devon is back. But Devon hasn't come alone. The very demon he tried to destroy has returned and is wreaking havoc on earth. When Devon meets Ellie, he instantly recognizes another supernatural being. But can they fight their growing attraction and focus on the task at hand? Ellie may just be the only person who is strong enough to destroy the demon, if the demon doesn't destroy her first." (Description taken from Barnes and Nobles)

Lori Brighton is amazing! She has managed to do it again with another must read! I found that I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. I didn't know how she was going to be able to top The Ghost Hunter; but she did.

I was loved that Lori expanded the character Devon and introduced a firecracker of a character with Ellie! She also managed to add new and exciting elements to the story. I also like Miranda she is another new addition. Although Ashley and Christian are in this story they are not the main characters like in The Ghost Hunter. They move to the background giving Devon and Ellie a chance to be in the forefront.

This is one series I guarantee it will take your breath way.  It's also reasonably priced so you aren't blowing your book budget on one series.

"Magic flows through Jillian Proctor's veins as surely as blood, but so far her life outside Boston has been peaceful. William Morgan blows into Jilly's life like a hurricane, unleashing her magic and sending her out of control. Unknowingly, William brings an enemy who only wants to posses the power of the witch. Jilly must learn to harness her magic before she loses it - and everything in her life is destroyed."

Mark of the Witch is an intense read! I was drawn in from start to finish. I loved that this book was full of depth. There were also tons of surprises so I wasn't just going through the motions of reading it when I already knew what was going to happen. I also felt this book was very visual; no there isn't any pictures. What I mean it the way Jessica describes the scenes it's so vivid it's almost like you are right there watching it come to life. Her characters also develop and discover more of who they are as the story goes on.

This is one I defiantly recommend being added to your reading list; some where towards the top! I look forward to reading the second book in this series.

Review of The Mystic Wolves by Belinda Boring

  • BN ID: 2940014547802
  • Publisher: Moonstruck Media
  • Publication date: 1/19/2012
  • Sold by: Barnes & Noble
  • Format: eBook
  • Pages: 300
  • Sales rank: 124,709
  • Series: The Mystic Wolves , #1
  • File size: 150 KB

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times; I love shifters. They are sensual, loyal, and just total bad asses!

The Mystic Wolves are no different. This book starts out with a bang literally. Taking you on a wild ride when an outsider threatens their very existence.  Belinda did an amazing job bringing incredible characters to life. She also added just enough of a mind screw to the end of the book to keep you hooked and begging for more!

If your one of those folks that feel vampires are the better paranormal characters never fear there are vampires as well. This book also offers just enough heat as well to make it ok for younger readers. It also has a wonderful love story between Mason pack alpha and his future mate Darcy.

I also noticed this book had a lot of mixed reviews but it seems that a lot of the people that didn't like the book weren't paranormal fans or they were pissed because there were some jabs at Twilight. I personally am not a fan of Twilight so that didn't bother me.

Review of Hollywood Scandal by Gemma Halliday

  • BN ID: 2940011916403
  • Publisher: Gemma Halliday
  • Publication date: 10/29/2010
  • Sold by: Barnes & Noble
  • Format: eBook
  • Pages: 236
  • Sales rank: 15,622
  • Series: Hollywood Headlines Series , #1
  • File size: 810 KB

I know I don’t normally review New York Times Best Selling Authors but I love Gemma Halliday! I discovered her last year when I started reading her High Heel Mysteries! I figured it was going to be one of those series were you read the first one and think why did I start reading this? I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Gemma’s books are fun and laugh out loud stories; with heroines that are smart, witty, and slightly damaged.

Both of Gemma’s series take place in L.A. Which I’ve never been so I get to live vicariously through Tina Bender in this series as she chases down Hollywood’s rich and famous for her celebrity gossip column. Tina works for Felix Dunn at the Informer. If you read the High Heel Mysteries Felix might sound familiar to you. Gemma brought back some of your beloved characters from the High Heeled Mysteries. I love that she did that. It gives you the feeling of continuing the story but with new lead characters.

In the first book in this series Tina starts to get threats because of her column; true to form she isn’t going to take it lying down. She sees it as a could be story and she is going to chase the lead. Felix of course is looking out for his assets; he higher Cal to look out for Tina. This of course doesn’t go over well with her because she is a big girl and can take care of herself.  Or at least she thinks so!

I look forward to reading the rest of this series! It’s always great being able to read a great mystery that is also a fun romance story as well! I would suggest if you haven’t read the High Heel Mysteries pick those up as well!!

Interview with Author Rose Pressey

Hello Rose. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this interview.

1. When did you know that you wanted to become an author?

The earliest memory I have of seriously wanting to be an author was about ten years ago. I’ve always had stories in my head though. I remember making up stories when I was a kid.

2. Is there a certain Author that inspired you?

There are many authors who inspire me. In 2005, I read a book by Mary Kay Andrews. When I finished, I knew I had to give being an author a chance. I wanted to write a book like Mary Kay Andrews. So her book sparked me to work hard and make it happen.

3. When you decided you wanted to write your first novel did you have support from your friends and family?

I had a lot of support from my family and friends. Probably more support than I deserved. They should have told me how bad my first attempt at writing a novel was instead of telling me the book was great.

4. Do you have a certain location you like to go when you are working on your books to draw inspiration?

I write a lot in my office, but there are a couple special places I go for inspiration. There’s a huge park near my home. It has a lot of spooky places. Plus, my favorite small town is nearby and there are a lot of historic homes there.

5. Did you always know that you wanted to write paranormal romance books?

No, I didn’t always know, but combining the two genres seemed natural. I love romance and paranormal.

6. Is there any other style that you would like to write as well?

I love mystery and that’s a genre I plan on writing more of in the near future.

7. You have a couple book series right now that you are working on. Do you have a favorite series?

I love all my series. It’s like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. I can’t do it.

8. Your characters are very relatable even if they happen to be a werewolf; do you base your characters on people you know?

I get inspiration from people around me, but most of the time the characters just show up fully formed in my head.

9. What is next for you? New releases?

How to Date a Demon will be out in a few weeks. It’s the third book in the Rylie Cruz series.

10. Being an indie author is there anything you want the fans to know such as the best way to support indie authors?

Being an indie author is tough. Having the support of readers is very important. Leaving reviews and spreading the word is two of the most important things a reader can do to support their favorite indie author.

Again Rose thank you taking the time to do this interview. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Thank you so much for the interview! I had a great time answering the questions.
